I’m a big advocate of traveling and seeing new places, even if it’s a street I’ve never walked on before on my way home. I like the novelty, I feel creatively stimulated. Nothing gets me pumped like being in a new spot, which is why I try to find as many opportunities to get away from my routine. Go to a new restaurant. Drive to a different town.
We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us. – Anonymous
We live in the era of travel. Plane tickets prices are at a record low. It can cost less to fly halfway across Europe than the gas money to drive 100 km. You can couch-surf, stay in hostels or rent apartments by the day with the help of countless websites. You can go with as little as a backpack or as much as two closet-sized suitcases. So why don’t more people take advantage of this?
I challenge you to plan a trip in the next 3 months. If you don’t have any ideas, I can give you plenty. It can be far away, it can be close. It can be at the beach this summer or in the mountains, hiking. It can be the next town over or a different country, but get some people together and start planning. Buy tickets. Get excited. And go.
Have a eudemonic week!
